gonna try going from 3.4 -> 3.8 GHz on my Ryzen 5 2600 with my stock cooler and shitty ASRock Great Value motherboard, wish me luck

under synthetic load, it seeeeeems to be holding steady at just under 85 degrees? only been running for 15 minutes though, so. we shall see. if it goes over 85°, I'm gonna try going to 1.25 volts

last attempt went over 85° around the 20 minute mark, stepping down the voltage. seems to be climbing slower now, but just hit 80° nine minutes in. RAM is also getting a lil toasty.

as an aside — there seems to be this conception (online, at least) that stock coolers are obnoxiously loud under load and I don't get that??? it's audible, I guess. The fan noise is drowned out almost entirely by me typing and/or wearing (open-backed) headphones. maybe I'm just numb to it, having grown up around those awful Dell P4 towers and their ilk that sounded like a vaccuum cleaner under any kind of load.

stress test has been running for half an hour, seems to have peaked at 83°, and with that I will be going to bed. next time I have an evening to myself I'll either see if I can hit 4 GHz or get it stable at a lower voltage.
