Trite, contrived, mediocre, milquetoast, amateurish, infantile, cliche-and-gonorrhea-ridden paean to conformism, eye-fucked me, affront to humanity, war crime, should literally be tried for war crimes, resolutely shit, lacking in imagination, uninformed reimagining of, limp-wristed, premature, ill-informed attempt at, talentless fuckfest, recidivistic shitpeddler, pedantic, listless, savagely boring, just one repulsive laugh after another.

no other deckbuilding game I can think of focuses so intensely on the economic aspect of warfare and tbh that's absolutely my favourite part of the game. Counterspell and Wasteland are some of my favourite game pieces ever and they should be some of yours too.

ps do not mention flesh and blood because it's not at all the same and you know it's not

the resource system as a whole; lands and mana, but also life and cards. nearly everything in the game is, ultimately, an intermediary resource to accomplish a goal (kill opponent), and those resources can be targeted to severely cripple your opponents. obviously this is true of most games, but in Magic it feels like The Whole Point. you can't just bash your opponent harder than they bash you, you have to cripple their economy to win effectively.
