just bought a Ryzen 5 5600X to upgrade from my Ryzen 5 2600 and I think I got a dud.
-
CPU gets up to just over 90°C under load w/stock cooler; old CPU only ever got up to ~70°
on the same cooler. -
with XMP enabled, the system shuts down semi-randomly while using a lot of memory regardless of operating system used.
-
MemTest86 crashes pretty much instantly w/XMP enabled and both RAM sticks (2x8GB @ 3200 MT/s) installed. With just one of the sticks in and XMPed, or with both and XMP disabled, it seems to work fine. MT86 passes with both sticks XMPed and the old CPU installed as well.
is there anything else I can try that I haven't thought of that might make it work or should I just return/exchange the thing…? I'm running the latest firmware on my motherboard too, so if the problem is with it it's a hardware problem.
