I agree with this statement. Also it's unfortunate that only one game does this and it's Kane & Lynch 2, a game that's simultaneously basically terrible and also maybe one of the best video games ever developed.
another idea is make the master volume go way down every time you shoot like its hearing damage
AND it either lasts for like an hour or you have to go into the menu yourself and turn it back up
