okay look I'm sure Rust is fantastic and all but the fact of the matter is that I find writing C(++) enjoyable and relaxing whereas writing even simple programs in Rust is a miserable experience that makes my fingers and eyes hurt

lol. You're right that memory safety isn't the only important thing in the world, but that's hardly why I tend to enjoy writing Rust. There are so many other nice things in the language and tooling.
