Just posted the end of Sex Archie's 6th season (no plug rule still in effect, you know where to look if you want it) and thinking about the weird place we've built. The fandom is all shippers. People who talk about Riverdale online are almost exclusively talking about who should smooch who, and taking out stopwatches to prove their demands are not being met. People curious about Riverdale are happy to see a headline describing each week's cliffhanger twist, react in disbelief, and not think about it for a week. I don't know what purpose our show fills beyond the fun of making it. Which is good enough reason, we'll be there to the end, but it seems that we imagined an audience who never existed.
