I make a lot of stuff but plugs are for the other site.

First shot of animation: I thought it was the waterfall in the opening establishing shot, but that was taken from filmed footage so I’m not sure.

Definitely a back to basics picture, but the basics are what they’re best at. Masterful character animation, particularly on Mowgli, Baloo, and Shere Khan.

Simple plots, like walking from A to B, are the best way they’ve found to hang an episodic story together. Baloo and Bhageera are a perfect double act and odd couple. I appreciate when they both get opposite black eyes to underline it. Shere Khan might be my favorite animated character in this whole journey? He’s so assured in his cruelty, and the way his shoulders move beneath his skin.

Walt’s dead. Don’t get into behind the scenes too much, but I figure it’s worth mentioning. Next movie is the first he didn’t work on personally.

Why is the 10 year old girl a seductress? Is she that desperate for someone else to carry the water jug?

Recently I've taken a friend of mine on a Disney Marathon, and we were both shocked at how well Jungle Book holds up all things considered.

But what we really loved was how perfect Baloo and Bagheera work as "two dads trying to raise their son", with differing parental attitudes but both genuinely caring for Mowgli.

There's also this wonderful exchange with:
Bagheera: "You wouldn't marry a panther, would you?"
Baloo: "Well, gee, I dunno." nudges Bagheera with a wink "Nobody's ever asked."
