This morning, the second day of the 15th Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo began by putting 5 actors from Star Wars Rebels on stage. It was basically what you’d expect, a lot of talk about how much fun they had together, how welcomed they are by the global fandom, how the main cast stay close, and how nice it is to meet Lars Mikkelson in person for the first time ever.

The best story was from the recording of season 1: Jason Isaacs’ first day recording with the group. Rebels’ recording sessions were in-person with the full cast as often as possible. Isaacs found a mini golf set in the back of a closet, set it up, and practiced his putting between scenes. Vanessa Marshall remembers Freddie Prinze Jr being pissed at the unprofessionalism, and credits it for the tension between Kanan and The Grand Inquisitor. Freddie doesn’t remember being quite THAT mad.

And now, the top 3 times people talked about Dave Filoni behind his back:

Freddie Prinze Jr: [To Vanessa Marshall] Did Dave wear the stupid cowboy hat in your audition? [To the crowd] He wears the hat indoors. That’s so not cowboy.
Vanessa Marshall: He’s from Pittsburg, what do you expect?

Freddie Prinze Jr: Dave thinks he works for the CIA
[Later, the cast member who narrated the final episode’s epilogue told how it was a handwritten page Dave Filoni pulled from his pocket after dismissing everyone else. No digital record, no other eyes. The other cast members shared they didn’t know their character’s final fates until people told them after it aired a year later]

Steve Blum: [To Lars Mikkelson, regarding Dave Filoni providing exhaustive context] He did that with you, too? In a session, what percentage did you actually record?
