Decided to try Dillon's Rolling Western today, and man I'm mad that this is a dead franchise now and that I never checked it out sooner. I kind of feel like recording my thoughts and impressions about it! (and maybe with other games too, I've seen other people do this kind of thing and its really cool)
Right off the bat the game introduces you to the mechanics and main tactic of the game, the swiping roll dash, but you may not realize it until you get in game! Plus the transition from title screen to save screen just had me like "oh this is gonna be a good time"
I can't remember the last time I played a primarily touch screen game and I love how it takes me back to "early DS era" vibes, but definitely adding in the extra 3D grunt the 3DS can pull off. Its also nostalgic how the game kind just gives you a quick movement tutorial and throws you in, leaving you to figure stuff out as you go with minimal hints when you get something new.
I got through the first "day", and then was introduced to more new mechanics that I'm pretty sure I could have used if I knew about them, so that's cool. Can't wait to pick up the game again later and try them out, and see how it further builds upon itself (I'm forcing myself to take my time, I can see this game being fun to pick up, play a day or two in game, and then do something else for a bit.
also I highly appreciate asking me if I want to keep playing when I save, thank you game. Encourage some healthy disconnect, I can't think of anything else that does nowadays.
