Currently, old satellites either burn up safely in the atmosphere or remain in space. But we're working on new technology that could refuel or upgrade satellites while in space, expanding their lifespans and making spaceflight more sustainable:



On flight day 13 of the Artemis I mission, Orion reached its maximum distance from Earth, 268,563 miles away from home.

Orion has now traveled farther than any other spacecraft designed to carry humans to deep space & safely return them to Earth.
