I've been told I'm "pocketable"

I make my own patches, sometimes draw and I like old/cute video games. I work on computers and retro handhelds/consoles

so Tumblr is falling on its face and banning trans people because a trans person responded to unmoderated transphobia with a comical, implausible threat involving hammers? Pssh, how unoriginal, BlueSky did it first

By now I'm convinced that cis tech bros think trans people are cartoon characters, and the threat of us pulling a giant hammer out of hammerspace and walloping them with it is real

now Matt Automattic CEO and Matt Yglesias can go huddle together in a corner. looking over each other's shoulder for the violent trans woman who could show up at any moment. sobbing to each other, please, hammer, don't hurt me

(edit: I am trying to add the image, edited to say "LARGE HAMMER, +10 AGAINST MATT", but I think Secretary Eggbug is overworked today. just imagine the image is there)

in reply to @arborelia's post:

There was a moment when BlueSky became more mainstream and the invites became less rare, and big Twitter accounts started showing up

at that moment, transphobic "just asking questions" journalist Matt Yglesias showed up, and he started being piled on by the large proportion of existing BlueSky users who were trans

Among this, a trans woman, Hannah, replied to Yglesias, "WE ARE GOING TO BEAT YOU WITH HAMMERS"

and apparently this was the threat that meant the BlueSky operators needed to place the first BlueSky ban ever on Hannah. They were so decentralization-brained that they hadn't thought about bans as a thing they needed to do. but talking about hitting a centrist journalist with a hammer was so beyond the pale for them that they shoddily coded up a ban system so they could ban her

pretty similar story to Tumblr on some level, I think. BlueSky operators won't do anything about the fact that transphobes and racists started using the site to be transphobic and racist, but when the targets of transphobia and racism respond proportionately, they get punished
