I used the retrosix clean screen mod :)
Besides this being a modern screen that's more vibrant and no ghosting but it's got it's own backlight so no more bulb on the back which means it's now much more power efficient, the 34V rail is actually no longer used

so next year is the 40th anniversary of the master system which means the capacitors are also ancient so I decided to replace them as a means of preventing issues later and hopefully cleaning up the signal a bit
it didn’t clean up the signal significantly, I knew it wouldn’t completely fix that it’s an old console and they’re kinda like that without other mods for it, but I’m still satisfied with this job bc I know those are quality caps and those’ll hopefully last a long time :)
so far I’ve noticed the new left speaker is a bit lower volume than the right which I think is caused by the old wiring harness for the power and audio boards bottlenecking the power to the speakers
right now it’s fine, the kit came with new harnesses but doing it right means desoldering the old connectors and I’m ok with waiting on that until the next mod which is the screen replacement
besides that I’m really satisfied :) it’s a really cool mod the game gear had stereo audio thru the headphone jack (like the model 1 genesis) and this mod takes advantage of that along with the new shell (both from retro six https://retrosix.co.uk/) having a place for the second speaker
doing some mods in my bathroom workshop today :)
it was a few wires I needed to solder to the power and bypass the 9V regulator
my plan is to spec out a usb c hub to power this, my saturn and dreamcast
