I knew this book was going to be up my alley the minute I started hearing about it. I had it on my to-read list for a long time and then it came back up in my reading circles and I decided to give it a try. I'm a big sucker for queer romance and sci-fi so I loved all the pining love letters between Red and Blue. There's a beauty in the authors just going all out on the flowery language and the increasingly convoluted ways in which they send each other these letters. There's an aspect of queerness that I love about this book in allowing the leads to be these forces of destruction, calculating secret agents, pieces of causes much larger than them while still letting them be soft and sappy on occasion. And the passion and ferocity of their love is just something I would like to see more of. Give me more absolutely unhinged relationship dynamics across time and space please! It's a wild journey of a book and I think the shorter length works to its strength as the back and forth nature of the letters was starting to drag a little before the climax kicks in. The descriptions in this book are incredibly vibrant and pulled me in very easily. I wouldn't say it's a book for everyone who likes romance or sci-fi but it was exactly what I wanted at the time I read it.
