One thing I will absolutely miss and still use twitter for until it dies is the public services twitter feeds. The damage that will be done when twitter is gone and nothing replaces these will be immense.
We will also miss stories like this. Though there are no details, you absolutely know this kid is so grounded.
there used to be police / fire radio scanners, but in the last many years they've gone encrypted (iirc). it's not the same, though.
I often listen to the public feed of my local scanner, but often it's too low volume to make out the words, and I have to be paying attention to it every moment to find out what's happening (Only with police/fire/medical responses). Twitter is nice for "Let me check the lightrail feed real fast to make sure there's no delays"
Totally agree on this. I do hope there is some place they will go after Twitter; these and other accounts for local news and government have been great.
