From its devastating attacks to its devilish glowing red eyes, I've always had a bit of a soft spot for Diablos-- though it certainly doesn't have one for me. There's lots to play with when fighting this monster, from breaking off one, and then the other, of its twisted horns, to slicing off its powerful club-like tail, to scaring it out of the ground with sonic bombs. It's a very sobering wake-up call to many players when this large, roaring monster comes up against you.

Anyway, painting this mini was somewhat tricky, as the color pattern of the Diablos is very much not the same across most games, leaving me with room to make some of my own decisions to make it pop-- the bone gray of the spikes along its tail and body are one such feature. This monster is usually caked in dirt and bleached by the desert sun, so I tried to play with that a bit! (Also, as an aside, a lot of Diablos's design seems to revolve around the shapes of its plates and spikes, and highlights at the very tips of any protrusions or at the top of its scale curvature.)

I might still go back and add a little more detail (for example: some iterations have a little bit of detail on the knuckle plates, and some don't) but even if I decided not to, I'm still proud of how Diablos came out~
