Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro has listed his unfinished business for the state Legislature, including passing a private school voucher program, increasing the minimum wage, curbing gun violence, and lifting limits on suing childhood sexual assault assailants and institutions. He also plans to address a court ruling that found the state discriminates against the poorest school districts. Shapiro acknowledges the politically divided Legislature but hopes to include more funding for public schools in his next budget proposal. Republican lawmakers have opposed the billions of dollars needed to fix public school funding disparities. Shapiro previously supported a Republican proposal for private school vouchers. Agreements between the Senate and House on the minimum wage, gun control, and sexual assault victim rights are yet to be reached.
