tbh i've gawked enough at the kendrick/drake beef, i've disillusioned myself to the idea of anything major actually coming of it outside of drake being made fun of on the internet; kendrick palling around with kodak black makes any judgements he passes on drake ring (just a little) hollow
(i will at least say the context for "Defending R Kelly" seemed more to me like "hey why does spotify only care about pulling problematic artists when they're black? either take the likes of robert plant or david bowie with him or don't act like that's what this is about" and that i think is worth listening to even if it can broadly be twisted into "defending r kelly")
but in light of kodak black on mr. morales, without something more substantial than a diss happening, it almost feels like victims of people like drake are just a punchline, a gotcha for the sake of banter
like if drake actually loses his career over this, i'll be ecstatic, i don't want him to hurt anyone anymore, but i just also hope kendrick can pull his head out of his ass and put his money where his mouth is
i'm not saying "fuck kendrick lamar forever," i legitimately hope he actually does something materially beneficial for victims beyond specifically spiting drake in particular and it'd do right by the skeletons in his closet, but so far, as far as i can tell, he uh... hasn't?
that said: drake can fucking die, he can't untouch those girls. he's so many orders of magnitude worse. full stop. i was a drake hater before this beef exploded, let alone breached containment so to speak--been praying for his downfall since i heard about him creeping on millie bobby brown
my team is less specifically pro-kendrick (though with my whole chest i believe to pimp a butterfly is an insanely well-crafted and genuinely emotionally touching album, endless respect to the densely-layered lyricism at play there and every ounce of himself that he poured into it) and more anti-drake to begin with.
