The last season of Sex Education was pretty disjointed and felt like there wasn't really a core conflict, just a lot of major personal problems that the whole cast was working through individually but at the same time. I think I still mostly enjoyed it though, and at least the finale was good. The show does this weird thing a lot where something really heartbreaking and serious occurs and then it will cut to something ridiculous just for laughs, and it's very jarring. Not sure if that's just a British TV thing or if the showrunners felt like it was getting too dark, as the season does heavily hit on death and abuse and could be triggering for some people. The little journeys all the major characters go through are pretty interesting though. Gillian Anderson is still amazing as Jean; I will probably watch some more X-Files soon just to see more of her. Otis is maybe at his least likable in this season, which makes it a drag when the show has to come back to him since he's the protagonist. But it is pretty accurate for a teenage boy to act like a stubborn asshole most of the time, so I can kinda see where that came from. All the issues with queer identity and coming out and queer vs straight culture that the show explores seem pretty true-to-life too. The campaign race between O and Otis to see who will be the school's student sex counselor just seemed like a weak and contrived device to hang the show on. It doesn't help that O herself is also mostly unlikable for the majority of the season. The new hyper-progressive college backdrop and new characters are interesting but don't feel like they have enough time to be fully explored. Eric, Aimee, Isaac, Cal, Ruby, Adam, Maeve, Jackson, and Viv all make it worth watching though. I'm not much of a Whovian yet but I am really curious to see Ncuti Gatwa as the Doctor soon; he's definitely one of the best actors on the show and steals every scene he's in. Dan Levy and Hannah Gadsby are neat to see but I'm glad we don't spend a ton of time with them here. Overall, I will miss this show a lot and probably rewatch it soon and would recommend it to almost anyone at this point.
