Got a myringotomy (no ear tubes yet) today just to see if it helps my right eustachian tube get back to normal. Wasn't bad except for the topical anesthetic they use, which stings like a mofo at first. Whole thing only takes a few minutes though, and it doesn't hurt at all now. Hearing-wise, things are kinda muffled at first, like someone opened a car window in your skull, and it's harder to make out speech and judge volume. But I feel like my brain is compensating for it already. Will just have to see how things go as my ear drum heals over the next several weeks, but I'm cautiously optimistic about it. At the very least, it doesn't seem to have made things worse, and it doesn't bother me much having one ear drum opened and the other closed so far.
