out of the many evils of the world i think the reverence we hold for the personal automobile as the premiere transportation method of our cities is one of the most pervasive and clearly destructive to the notion of a livable space. you simply should not have or need a car within a city. the fact that you do in many or most american cities is a sign of deep societal sickness

I hate living in the suburbs so much because they are so car centric and they make it impossible to live without one. Walking to a destination is seen as a crime in so many cases.
and if it's not a crime it's usually a huge fuckin pain in the ass!! no crosswalks, highways cutting through everything, unlit walk/bike paths that are second-in-priority to roads at all times, it just is so depressing sometimes.
Its so frustrating that people dont get it either! I love my car! its a horrible groaning box of crap but I love roadtrips, I love pulling off for random roadside crap. But whenever I want to photograph dense stuff in a city, I park the fucker, and walk. Because driving and parking for each of those points of interest would be miserable. How people encounter that and go "The city must bend to my will" boggles the mind.
