enjoying the new Sum 41 track, and it's making me think about the span of their career and their last 2 albums. They're of course long past peak relevancy, but the last few releases have felt very coherent in a way that makes me feel like they found their niche, which they were missing earlier on. the first half of their career they bounced all over the place stylistically and always seemed slightly behind the curve, as if they were unsure of who they wanted to be. The last few albums feel more like they found what they were looking for, and it's different from early material. Happy for them!
i hope i'm not praising them too early though, I'm looking at the new album pre-orders here and it's a 20 track double album, and I am very doubtful that releasing this much material at once is gonna do them any favours. also the album art is tacky as shit. oh boy
