I'm gonna have to ask why you don't think how the writer tempered after that, with growth and perspective, didn't also alter how you have to read the earlier texts.
I see people still quoting early Lenin, and hating on late Lenin not realizing they're the same person, just shaped by what transpired in part because of that writing.
same with anyone in any movement, and everyone quoting idealistic coders from the 90s.
I'm not saying earlier works aren't good, or that people can't be led astray. I'm saying you have to consider the fact that you think they were led astray means you also have to study why that happened. or you'll do it again.
