oh and the commercial-ish version from before? after? the win xp stuff has a subtly different. well. everything. or, the signature at the start of a packet Wildly determines what comes after. or, they changed it at some point. who knows
i've now realised that a few packets i thought were Really Complex and Full Of Information are simply Full Of Stack Garbage because they made really generous buffers for usually quite small strings and then never memset their buffers to 0 before using them
