everyone says they're a bad movie that doesn't tell you a story

that's the point

the entire trilogy is about how if you shelter someone since a child from learning about evil, they are more likely to be tricked by evil people

everyone remembers he called the gungans gungans because his small child called trucks that

but they don't connect that he made the movies as the US was staging more and more "interventions" and the news would always present it as being A Justified Response.

there's a George Lucas interview somewhere out there, you can probably find it by googling "george lucas Vietnam", I'm not going to. where they ask him if the rebels vs the empire is about US vs Russia. or the French resistance

and he responds that the rebels are oppressed and fighting a much stronger force. They aren't the French resistance. They're fighting the French. They're the NLF, the Việt Cộng. Its why they can win.

The prequels don't make sense because the movie follows Anakin. And like Anakin, most of the complexity of the world is kept from you.

The Phantom Menace is a horror movie about United States civil mythology and hagiography. Whatever the third one is called is about how 20 year olds are still child soldiers if they're kept from what they need to grow up.

they might not be, but they also absolutely are.

just to be clear, they still aren't very good to watch. I just think that's the point.

honestly, i liked the 3rd movie when i saw it. everyone loved to clown on the vader "Noooo" scene but i feel like they actually did a good job of adding a back story here, and it really makes you feel like "wow the jedi fucking sucked" and are totally responsible for letting evil flourish because of their stupid ideas. plus they removed jar jar's speaking lines so you can't even wield him against the movie.

but yeah, it's a shame that no one wants to see the politics of any of these movies.
