I know it would be a lot of work so I’m not like, strongly suggeting it but i wish I could choose ‘hide all intermediary posts’ on a root-post of mine, such that ‘threading’ longposts didn’t just clog the feed. The timestamps and separation are important, and I can do that with headings and heading links (…assuming they work here, I haven’t tried yet) and manual timestamping. But that adds overhead.
I know I am like one of twenty people who would use it, so I’ll just work within the system for now, and I do have a wordpress but it’s fairly neglected and also high effort to write in.
But there’s a certain characteristic you can only really get from the self-replies, like a forum poster frantically trying to explain something only to be banned for the last 8 replies being just them
Twitter threads are terrible because no one reads them, cohost threads are a problem because they push the entire thread to the screen, but the post that’s newest is at the very bottom of them. I mostly want a ‘unroll this scroll if the first or last post has made you Care, otherwise it’s just There And Maybe Titles.
Some of this maybe is just that the auto-‘read more’ fold is just wayyyyyy too generous if you’re having an active ‘conversation’ involving longposting, I don’t really know how other people parse Text On Pages so I’m winging it here.
