and since I have an ebike with disc breaks that loses pedal assist over 20mph, my stopping distance is at worst a bike length, on average a foot and a half (if uncomfortable), and it's about eight inches if I'm willing to fall on my side instead of hitting someone. (crouch behind the seat while using both breaks, rear more than front, relax both a sec and re-brake when the rear skids, like antilock brakes work. if you don't shift your weight, the bike will throw you, and thus will not stop going forward itself)

that said disc brakes on a bike are NO JOKE, I cannot emphasize how my normal braking distance is longer than that because just doing that all the time will eventually just toss you if you aren't shifting your weight
