nabijaczleweli.xyz and uhhhhhh path.nabijaczleweli.xyz, apparently, is github pages (legacy deployment reasons, i'd probably use shart pages now, but I'd have to spend Too Long unbreaking links for the former because of their restrictive CSP). but for everything else (and, indeed, nabijaczleweli.xyz if github ever annoys me enough) its just an http process, a nginx entry, and the CDN clicked to orange in cloudflare aDNS (of course, that has the issue of having to read the monthly reports and see what to remove from the New Firewall Product to make it so tor users aren't always blocked, but meh, thats a thrice-a-year affair maybe). unclear to me what a "bandwidth cost" here would be, then, since I'm not cloud-hosting?
sorry for party rocking longposting, this should've read "nginx and cloudflare CDN; not sure how id incur bandwidth costs w/o cloudhosting, so yes(?)"
nah it's fine, I can read Long, just make sure you aren't overspending effort I guess <_<.
maybe I can host it from here, I guess I haven't seen if the ISP cares yet.
my isp contract stipulates a fixed ip4 address for an amazing additional price of 10zł/mo, and they give zero shit about fuck all except getting their invoices paid on time (this includes having a working customer portal with a functioning PTR text box), so if you have a computer (and aren't on mobile internet) I'd say that's by far the cheapest, least annoying, and least abusable, yeah
I package all of my sites up into a docker container and run it on Azure on a container instance. They only charge for vCPU and RAM allocation, and since my site is static I can set them to be very low. I wouldn't really recommend this approach for others as I've found it has not so stellar uptime.
if you want a good place to host your site, this is exactly the purpose of a tilde and many exist like the one there and vern.cc
for where i actually host my website, my friend has a raspberry pi and an isp that doesn't suck, he hosts our websites and we work together on it.
i just use vercel. what they actually provide in general is pretty good but there’s some bigger levels of general ehhh stuff around vercel that doesn’t make me feel great, but i’m also not about to learn something different. https://img.wa11y.co/ is hosted on it. i also used github pages for https://sibr.dev which was okay i guess. it was annoying to set up and idk how i feel about it in general, but maybe i’m just having flashbacks to when it was significantly worse than it is now
