a lot of movement things isn't about swaying people completely to your side.
most of it is knowing enough people will have your backs if it goes south, and will at least not antagonize you.
the union signs in windows are a show of force, but that's a side effect of their primary use. They may bring recruits or supporters, but that too, isn't the reason.
it's about calculating how much community support you have. Putting up the sign has little cost outside of social, and the social cost can be bailed out from if people get confrontational.
but it means, at the very least, they won't fight you and they probably won't scab. so you wait, and time whatever union action for when you're pretty sure support is in your favor, at least, where the media will be looking.
anyway this applies to so much more than union signs.
and yes, the new people going "it's capitalism" in all of your threads talking about narrow parts of things to better understand the enemy are these sorts of reverse-shibboleth. it sucks but you sorta just have to hope they'll learn. yes as people here know I'm eternally frustrated by it, but you gotta just endure.
and yes, so is people dunking on terfs by quote tweeting their transphobic OPs, I'm sorry to say. you can mute those tho.
being picky outside of leadership is for peacetime.
