¹ nose to ass with head and neck in the resting position, tail is excluded.
now -- it's important to note that these no longer reflect the reality of horses, between measurements being pegged to the metric system in the 1930s thanks to standardization, and selective breeding of horses for various tasks.
"cubit" is named after the standard imperial length of a bit made for the bridle of a specialized breed of cubical horses, no longer extant
