but I didn't remember any of it until the last part.
the date loads for me on mobile, but dark reader ate it on desktop, so I was thinking about how you could silicon date the event in question to 2006-2010 between the mention of Wireshark (changed from Ethereal in 2006), giving us a lower bound.
They then mention Slashdot as a place to post bleeding edge computer industry questions, and specifically mods giving everyone +5 Funny for mocking comments from computing professionals, placing us definitively in the 2003-2010/11 era of Slashdot.
I went through all that "work" just to load it on mobile and realize it was written 2009.
It explains the mysterious perf issues I was having on my win11 dual boot, every since Windows 7.
