the premise of Marathon doesn't really fit for an extraction shooter.
but Oni does.
they took an IP with a pretty deep story, and made it into a fairly shallow PVP game (just by nature of the genre), when they could have taken a universe that could actually support the gameplay.
Hell, the art style of the Marathon trailer looks like it's Oni inspired.
I wonder how many Bungee employees remember Oni
But Oni's setting can't really justify massive spaceships floating inside moons[1], and that seems to be where Bungie's heads go these days.
[1] Never mind the orbital mechanics, Bungie is allergic to "orbit" as a verb
they had atmospheric treatment plants, so I'm not sure it's incompatible with it either
