money is there to pay people for their labor-time, but instead we're paying so much of it to people who actually constitute the least labor of any given production chain

the biggest conceit of modern economics is convincing you that money is there because people take on risk, and not because you're exchanging it for time.

"owners are rewarded for taking on risk" is the most fucked up argument. instantly distrust anyone who makes that argument in earnest. it is 100% wrong. funding that entire housing project involves less real risk to the owners than taking a sick day does for your average worker. it's fucking grotesque and makes me so mad when i hear it in the wild
