every diablo past diablo 2 has been bad and the sole reason for it is widescreen monitors imo

your playfield was limited to 800x600 in diablo 2, which really, really made combat like a knife fight in a phone booth with the big bosses

i'm more thinking about how every boss fight in diablo III felt like I had all the options in the world even though I was fighting boss and enemies, because I could see where to maneuver.

being able to physically see more of the map makes the mazes less dangerous.
