I don't know how much it's true but it feels like the inability to physically fight or flight probably makes unpleasant things last longer, because you aren't doing anything to burn off the adrenaline, but no one taught anyone that so instead they stew in the emotional effluent not knowing it's largely optional and mild exertion will rapidly speed up the consumption of adrenaline.

taking a walk and "touching grass" probably isn't enough, you might need to jog to it or bike or run around a bit, but it doesn't need to be Huge

I read a book called "Burnout: The Secret to Unlocking the Stress Cycle" by Emily Nagoski PhD which talks about exactly this. She also includes options for people who aren't physically able to exercise, there's a technique where you basically lay down and clench and unclench your muscles.
