I suppose an important distinction here is that "straight" is a subset of "het". straights aren't welcome
there's a level of relationship within which the couple is so far from societal expectations (misogyny, labor distribution, child rearing, etc) that if they're way closer to egalitarian or flipped about it they're still a political threat. But also the academic sense of queer, of being against societal norms enough that you'll get flak just for trying to exist in a better way than the one forced on.
see also: men labeled "honorary lesbian" because of how they act and behave around lesbians. I think it's a mistake to not harness the political forces swirling there.
And the less legible queerness can be made the less it can be used against us. Keeping it from being co-opted doesn't matter anymore, since assimilation influencers already are trying that.
but also like....... in a much more literal sense too. think about the insults most thrown around by men at both men and women who transgress even a little in most US centric online spaces without good moderation.
Being more specific is easy, too, and we already are starting to have to as everything gets co-opted and corporitized. But mostly? people can be part of a movement and also not part of speaking authoritatively or in ways that shape the politics past where they're relevant. We already do that.
