I want a split pane editor where one pane is code and one pane is opposite-side margin comments like you see in lisp/GNU projects, that are linked by line number and scroll together.

margin comments are cool, but if they're multi-line they break easily.

sorta, i'm thinking way less setup tho. Code Annotations is an extension that exists but it's not bundled with the code, basically I want soft formatting that exists in the code.

80col line limits make a lot more sense if you're putting comment blocks on the right half of the screen
