create a shitty, huge reimplementation of a small FPGA on a PCB out of discrete EPROMs and multiplexers as a didactic tool about FPGA architecture, in the vein of Evil Mad Scientist Labs' huge 555 and the MOnSter 6502
I am a firm believer in the idea that making a computer shittier and huger grants it additional explanatory power
I have the parts floating around for a FPGA logic cell, a shift register, some muxes and a flip-flop. But I never got around to figure out the routing, or design a PCB.
