this is like the physical version of harder drive #1, which uses the ping protocol to use all of the publicly addressable internet as a free hard drive
This is exactly what I was thinking too! Inventive solutions to problems with somewhat troubling failure rates
this reminds me of the project suckerpinch did where he stored data in the internet -- like within the ping and ping replies.
