setting that aside, what's the line between colleague and friend in these cases for you?

I realize picking at this corner of the *grasping for metaphors* high-ECM social battlespace thanks to no one trusting each other is going to get me misread, but this particular chunk of it lept out at me. features won't always be an orderly first in first out queue, they can't be. not in Cohost, not in any software that isn't making enough profits to hire exponential amounts of devs to throw at single features. Sometimes devs do things first because that's their sub specialty or they've got motivation to do it this time. but getting annoyed at features jumping the queue seems, like, so detached from the actual problems being discussed or the seriousness of the rest of the issues. Sometimes it's because their friend and colleague brought it up at the bar, or even their not colleague, and it grabs them. that's not even scandal, that's how creative work like, works.

also, i dont know how to say this, but the programmers are two people who are both iirc disabled in different ways and people seem to expect a prompt response at corporate ass covering speed? that is not immaterial here, like. theres only so many hours in those bones a week and i think of all the people who have ever hated me for being "too slow"

i dont get involved in the discourse unless its really funny as a rule but, shit, i still see it and remember being told my pain was an excuse and start blocking people. there is no point in arguing with strangers about it and staff says they dont want it but it still saddens me to see
