i think the most interesting take I've seen today is that feature triage is nepotism if it lines up along social connections
setting that aside, what's the line between colleague and friend in these cases for you?
I realize picking at this corner of the *grasping for metaphors* high-ECM social battlespace thanks to no one trusting each other is going to get me misread, but this particular chunk of it lept out at me. features won't always be an orderly first in first out queue, they can't be. not in Cohost, not in any software that isn't making enough profits to hire exponential amounts of devs to throw at single features. Sometimes devs do things first because that's their sub specialty or they've got motivation to do it this time. but getting annoyed at features jumping the queue seems, like, so detached from the actual problems being discussed or the seriousness of the rest of the issues. Sometimes it's because their friend and colleague brought it up at the bar, or even their not colleague, and it grabs them. that's not even scandal, that's how creative work like, works.
