the really fucked thing is that nobody makes a tiny NAS chassis for 2.5" drives, other than Synology's two 4-drive and 6-drive "slim" models, which you can't put TrueNAS on. i want my tiny storage god damn it.

edit: except the Silverstone CS280, which is small, but still bigger than I want, and also $200 for some reason. don't even get me started about trying to find mini-itx motherboards with 10gbE

yeah i did it on my QNAP before I switched to a full custom rig. I guess i'm not surprised Synology would block the bootloader or something after the bullshit they pulled about using "their" disks with their OS.

i was lookin for a affordable, small, hotswap chassis to build a standalone NAS in a while back on the premise that, i like the idea that it's all just built on commodity hardware and software so it could be maintained indefinitely but i gave up because it was hard and tbh i dont need more computer in my life
