someone in the electric vehicles youtube sphere just smashed their Ford E150 Lightning or whatever its called, thanks to black ice on gravel with winter tires, and while i'm not like, mocking that part, I do think it sort of disproves the idea that trucks keep you safer in winter driving that I often hear bandied about as a reason for buying larger vehicles in general.

when it comes to driving in the snow I always think about something I read about subarus/awd cars that said they basically give people a false sense of security because they have better grip for accelerating but have exactly the same limitations as any other car for turning and braking

like the improved ability to get moving from a stop means that you have to be way more actively, consciously aware of conditions because you're not getting constant feedback from the tires slipping a little every time you try to accelerate
