hmm. it's a very bad idea and i don't recommend it but I wonder if soaking the wood in alcohol, wrapping the plastic loosely over, and then igniting the alcohol would be enough of a pressure drop to simultaneously melt + vacuum form and self extinguish, like how off-roaders seat tire beads by lighting starter fluid sprayed on the inner rim
