ok ok I hate the AR rush as much as the next person because it sounds like it'll be the next frontier for ads. However. HOWEVER.

it could change the computing industry. What more could you want than a linter for your whiteboard. for someone else' whiteboard. syntax highlighting for terrible whiteboard squiggles.

c'mon, you know it in your heart.

in reply to @NireBryce's post:

this isn't a joke though, this is definitely already being worked on

i've got multiple divisions at work that are purchasing AVPs for developing these kinds of tools because they're going to allow high efficiency working in the real world in a way that not a lot else can, and people are getting really, really excited over it

$3500 is a drop in the bucket for these folks for something that increases efficiency this much.

I mean every scifi story I've read with almost MANDATORY optical AR vision has ads in it. One story putting viruses in the ads to kill people by fucking up their autonomic responses (Body basically thought they were in snow and thus froze to death). (No the world didn't stop putting ads everywhere. They covered it up and said it didn't happen.)

And I'm betting trying to make an adblocker for that.. will be illegal or something.
There will also be those hacker peeps that put porn everywhere as a "gotcha" for people using AR.

HOWEVER! If I can have my handsome angel hang out with me and maybe make nice comments on occasion in AR. I can be convinced. (Thinking of the AR mode on SMT Dx2)
