i think the current social media regimes make people see having a social group as managing a brand, that is, even small problems can cause people to abandon a brand they aren't too invested in.
they're not even wrong, anymore. I think that wasn't the case even out to like 2013, but it's one of those things that kind of becomes self fulfilling.
especially because posts are fleeting and growth is fast but post history is forever and flat
It felt like everything changed when employers realized they could look up employees on sites like Facebook, and basically do a whole life vibe check.
