we only use discord through the web version and a large part of that is because it means that we can make the font comic sans and the scroll bars clickable and the colors not bad
You can do that on desktop pretty cleanly with OpenAsar and on iOS with Emnity
not only would we never use that, we strongly discourage anyone reading this from attempting to use it. discord is EXTREMELY hostile and cruel and unreasonable and strongly despises any kind of accessibility or customization it doesnt have complete and total control over, and it routinely bans ppl for using stuff like this, and the consequences of that are absolutely brutal because it suddenly cuts you off from your social circle
we absolutely do not trust discord's hyperaggresssive, hypervindictive, and actively hostile enforcement system to not abruptly ban us for ""modifying"" the desktop client, something they super aggressively do beacause discord hates its userbase and wants to control it as tightly as possible and frequently takes harsh action against ppl doing minor modifications to its desktop client to make it more useable
we have already been the victim of discord's vindictive and aggressive enforcement system once before for someting extremely inane (trying to set up an alt account while we were figuring out harm reduction options for treating our crippling pain disability), & it resulted in us suddenly being totally cut off from a large ammount of our friends for days or maybe like a week (cant remember how long)
by contrast on the browser version they dont care and cant reasonably ask or prevent ppl from using the browsers default font settings or a dark mode extension or a userstyle or a addon for making scroll bars big & useable
plus its way easier than whatever complicated process it probably involves to use a custom client just so i can have the trauma of getting banned by discord a second time thrust on me
