i dont know what you mean specifically by the lysenko thing you got a jokey tldr for me? otherwise i am into it
lysenko was an agriculture guy who was very wrong, convinced stalin, and then his theory was part of what either started or made irrecoverable one of the famines, because lysenkoism became the official theory of plant development and people were afraid to go against it. (it's been a few years, this is a very loose gist)
so it's my retroactive explanation for why so many botany people on the left seem to stop developing after they reach the yimby instar
