I'm confused. At least where I live, almost no one is wearing coats, and those who are I don't think are wearing linen ones. Is this a difference of local fashion, or is there some other meaning of "linen coats"?
the writing marx is most known for contains an extremely verbose section that is basically just doing foreign currency exchange but with labor instead of currency, wherein he talks about like, ratios of bolts of linen to coats, which has been an on and off meme for a long while.
but here I'm kinda very indirectly making fun of people who are insisting it's just the economics and not the social parts, who come and go in waves
