this is really funny but going forward I kinda hope instead of walking off they just take the protesters somewhere near a transit stop and let them go. MTA drivers on a confiscated bus, driving? what are the cops going to do, risk a transit strike now that it's warm outdoors travel time?

there's people zip tied against the law on your fuckin transit bus and the cops asked you to help abduct them, might as well cut the cuffs too. what're they going to charge you with, "obstructing injustice"?

can the nypd and Eric Adams actually risk the PR + union + transit-strike combo? NYC's vascular system is the busses and subway. The cops should know this, since they spend most of their overtime humping the subway station walls looking at their cellphones. humping the walls enough to wear the letters off their jackets.

There were cops on the busses other than the ones driving, and the pigs on the ground aren't going to give a shit about the strategic implications of beating the shit out of bus drivers, so you'd need to physically overpower them with the help of the prisoners, which changes the optics (and criminal liability, and physical risk) a bit.

IDK what kind of union they have though, so maybe the union would still back them
