Bluesky is funded by Jack Dorsey and a bunch of smaller venture capitalist/investors1 while Mastodon is a Patreon + free labor + governments grants and that's barely enough to pay 'decent' European wages to a full-time team of maybe 6 people2 and most Mastodon admins either do this out-of-pocket or rely on donations.
Like I said, if you're gonna try to talk shit about Running A Social Media Website, you need to know what you're talking about, writing 10 paragraphs doesn't mean you do.
it's also very funny to talk about "financially sustainable" when most corporate social media sites are either completely in deficit or subsidized by entirely different businesses (selling ads).

financially sustainable projects is when the people running the projects are invisible to me, the user. it can be a big corporation pays them or they're not getting paid, as long as i don't have to see or think about them. that's what sustainability is
