once again bitterly thinking about the fact that we used to have fairly robust funding for the arts in western countries but that it probably comes up so seldom in discussions now because most people discussing Supporting The Arts online grew up after all of that was gutted and burned to the ground in a reactionary and frequently homophobic and misogynistic frenzy. people will literally start trotting out shit Andrew Carnegie wrote rather than dare to imagine a democratically accountable government that protects arts institutions from The Fucking Market.
